How We Built a Library at Monterey Car Week

An outdoor reading library setup for Carrara Media located at Sportscar Vacationland, hosted by Overcrest Productions, during Car Week 2025 in Monterey, California.

You know what car culture needs? More libraries. Carrara Media believes car books should make you want to sit down and reflect, and provide a place to do it, too. We put that theory to the test at Monterey Car Week.

Our booth at Sportscar Vacationland, a one-day automotive arts event hosted by the organizers of Overcrest Rally, created a welcoming and relaxing space for enthusiasts to take a break, reconnect with their passion for cars, and just hang.

Car Week is filled with loud noises and big crowds. We wanted to offer a sanctuary. Armed with blankets, mood lighting and a small neighborhood library filled with our latest titles, we invited attendees to take a moment for themselves.

Sportscar Vacationland was the perfect place to do it. Located on a winery in the relaxing Carmel Valley, featuring live art installations and a sunset outdoor theater, it added a completely different flavor to Car Week that is sure to have lasting impact.

Here, guests could settle in with our titles. We brought an advance copy of Life At Shutter Speed by Larry Chen, so people could preview the new coffee table book ahead of its official release in September.

We even brought something playful. We created coloring books! Artwork provided by Overcrest Rally organizers became the pages of a fun project for enthusiasts and their children. Some of the cars in the book were even in attendance that day.

At Carrara Media, we believe that modern enthusiasts deserve books that fulfill, inspire and delight. We want our public displays to do the same. Car culture is nothing without the people, and we will put people first — just as we did at Car Week.
